Daily Trust - - NEWS - From Chris Eze, Yenagoa

The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) has condemned the abduction of Ebi Clark, the son of the Ijaw national leader, Chief Edwin Clark.

In a statement signed by the IYC spokesman, Barrister Eric Omare in Yenagoa, IYC said the son of the Ijaw national leader was kidnapped and whisked away through the Kiagbodo river which connects with the Ramos and Forcados in Delta and Bayelsa States.

The statement ordered all clan heads in the riverine communities of Ingbelebiri, Oporomor and Seimbiri to trace and fish out the kidnappers.

The youth council vowed to use all resources in its disposal to fight kidnapping and other forms of criminality in Ijaw land.

The statement read in part: “Information at the IYC disposal is that the son of the Ijaw national leader, Ebi Clark, was taken to the kidnappers hideout through the Kiagbodo river which connects with the Ramos and Forcados rivers in Delta and Bayelsa States. Therefore all IYC clan officials in the riverine areas of Ingbelebiri ,Oporomor and Seimbiri clans of Bayelsa and Delta States have been directed to fish out the kidnappers”.

The council prayed that “the abduction will not prevent Chief Edwin Clark, who is on a national assignment to discuss issues that will benefit the Ijaw nation and the people of Nigeria’’.
