Soldiers, police take over Cross River warring communities
Governor Liyel Imoke of Cross River State has ordered security men to takeover warring communities.
This follows violent clashes between the people of Usumutong and Ediba in Abi Local Government Area of the state over a piece of land.
Soldiers, police and other law enforcement agents have been deplored and stationed in the disputed area to forestall further breakdown of law and order.
The law enforcement agents have been further directed to deal with anyone or group that perpetrates mayhem in the area.
Addressing traditional rulers, chiefs and youths in Usumutong and later Ediba, the deputy governor, Mr. Efiok Cobham, warned the warring communities to steer clear of the disputed land.
He warned the people not to provoke the military men in the area nor take laws into their hands, rather they should cooperate by giving useful information to the law enforcement agents to help them tackle the crisis.
