The All progressives Congress (APC) has advised its officials against imposition of candidates in the forthcoming congresses.

Interim national secretary of the party, Tijjani Musa Tumsah, gave the counsel while addressing newsmen after a roundtable meeting with members of the congress committees at the party’s secretariat in Abuja Wednesday.

He said the party has directed members of the committees to be just to all contestants for the party’s leadership positions.

On the issue of consensus candidates, he said can only come about after voting where the other candidates will settle for one of them.

“Anywhere a consensus candidate emerges, there should be voting before his emergence,” he said.

Also speaking, the Interim national organising secretary of the party, Sen. Osita Izunaso, said the party is prepared to conduct a free and credible congress that will uphold the progressive ideals of the party.

“Our guidelines clearly spelt out how the congresses should be conducted at all levels. And the party will not allow the slightest breach of those guidelines,” he said.
