Driver, woman killed in Piri village auto crash
A driver and a middle- aged woman lost their lives while two others sustained serious injuries in a motor accident that occurred at Piri village, along the Abuja-Lokoja highway.
A witness said the accident happened when a Toyota Camry car had a tyre burst while on speed and crashed into a ditch, killing the driver and the woman on the spot.
He said the vehicle somersaulted thrice after it overtook another vehicle at a sharp bend before running into the ditch, saying men of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), who were on patrol, arrived the scene and evacuate the corpses to hospital.
When contacted, Yangoji unit commander of the FRSC, Austine Chuekwudi Okeke, confirmed the accident in which he said a driver and a middle aged woman lost their lives.
He said two persons that sustained injuries were taken to Kwali General Hospital while the corpses were deposited at the same hospital.
He attributed the accident to speed limit violation and tyre burst.
The unit commander added that one person was also killed in another accident which occurred on Tuesday evening also at Piri village, along the Abuja-Lokoja highway.
He said the accident happened around 6:28 pm when a Ford bus had a tyre burst and crashed into a ditch, saying the corpse of the victim was also taken to Kwali General Hospital’s morgue.
He said one person that sustained injuries as a result of the accident was taken to the same hospital for attention.
