2 women jailed for fighting over fuel at Dutse
An Abuja Magistrate court has sentenced two businesswomen to one month imprisonment for fighting over fuel.
Lilian Odey (30) of Kubwa and Jane Isaac (23) of Karmo were convicted for assault, an offense contrary to Section 265 of the Penal Code.
Police Prosecutor, Danjuma Abdulahi, told the court that one Corporal Murdeen Aderibigbe attached to Dutsen Alhaji market out station, arrested and brought the accused to the police station.
He said the accused, on March 22, engaged themselves on physical fight at Dutsen Alhaji, opposite Mobile Police Station, over a prohibited black market business they were into.
According to the prosecutor, during the fight, one of the accused, Lillian Odey, gripped the hair of her rival, Jane Isaac, and pulled out the attachment on her head, while Jane, in return, tore the dress of Lillian.
When the charge was read to the accused, they pleaded guilty and the prosecutor asked for a summary trial.
The Magistrate, Mohammed Kutigi, sentenced them to one month imprisonment each, with an option of N3, 000 fine.
He also warned them not to engage in fight again, but to live at peace with each other, at least for the next two years.
