Abaji coun­cil boss urges tra­di­tional rulers to be se­cu­rity con­scious

The Chair­man of Abaji Area Coun­cil in the Federal Cap­i­tal Ter­ri­tory (FCT), Al­haji Ya­haya Garba Gawu, has im­plored tra­di­tional rulers in the coun­cil to be con­scious of the in­flux of people into their com­mu­ni­ties in or­der to fore­stall crises in neigh­bour­ing states from sidling into the FCT.

The chair­man,who was rep­re­sented by the Su­per­vis­ing Coun­cil­lor of Works, Barr. Yusuf Saleh, made this known dur­ing an ur­gent peace and se­cu­rity meet­ing with tra­di­tional heads in the area coun­cil yes­ter­day.

He called on com­mu­nity lead­ers to be up and do­ing in their var­i­ous com­mu­ni­ties by watch­ing out to avoid un­known faces that will sink into com­mu­nity to cause trou­ble.

The chair­man also di­rected that the coun­cil will do ev­ery­thing pos­si­ble to stop in­flux of new faces to avoid crises plead­ing for a co­op­er­a­tion of se­cu­rity per­son­nel and com­mu­nity lead­ers.

Re­spond­ing, Etsu of Yaba, Al­haji Ab­dul­lahi Adamu, said the lead­ers are ready to cor­po­rate with govern­ment to im­prove peace and har­mony in their var­i­ous do­mains. “There­fore all tra­di­tional rulers present should warn their mem­bers not to en­ter­tain any­body with sus­pi­cious char­ac­ter and re­port to him im­me­di­ately and I will in turn re­port to se­cu­rity agents,” he said.
