De­camped ex-coun­cil boss will re­turn to PDP -Bwari chair­man

The Chair­man of Bwari Area Coun­cil, Peter Yo­hanna Ushafa, said that the im­me­di­ate past chair­man of the coun­cil, Isah Dara Bwari, who was re­ported to have de­camped from the rul­ing People’s Demo­cratic Party(PDP) in the area to the op­po­si­tion All Progress Party (APC) has only com­menced his sab­bat­i­cal leave and will soon re­turn to the party.

Isah Dara was re­ported in the me­dia yes­ter­day to have de­camped to the op­po­si­tion APC from the rul­ing party to bring what he called the nec­es­sary change not only in the coun­cil but FCT at large.

Isah Dara ruled the coun­cil from 2004 to 2010 and po­lit­i­cal an­a­lysts in the area, said he was in­stru­men­tal to the vic­tory of the in­cum­bent chair­man, Peter Yo­hanna Ushafa dur­ing the 2010 elec­tion hav­ing served as Su­per­vi­sory Coun­cilor dur­ing his ten­ure.

Sources close to the two politi­cians said an ir­rec­on­cil­able dif­fer­ence en­sued few months af­ter the in­cum­bent chair­man re­sumed of­fice over what they called per­ceive over bear­ing in­flu­ence on the in­cum­bent chair­man from the Isah Dara camp.

But speak­ing in an in­ter­view with City News, the coun­cil chair­man, said; ‘’I know Isah Dara very well, he is my boss, he will soon come back, he is only on a sab­bat­i­cal leave.’’

He said PDP re­mains the party to win any elec­tion in the coun­cil con­sid­er­ing the lofty projects the party has brought to the people of the area and urged the lead­er­ship of the party to en­sure in­ter­nal democ­racy dur­ing party pri­maries to en­able pop­u­lar and cred­i­ble can­di­dates emerge the flag bear­ers of the party dur­ing the elec­tion.

Isah Dara was quoted to have said APC of­fers the plat­form for change, adding that he would en­sure that the party wins in fu­ture elec­tions both in the coun­cil and the FCT.
