Kwali council donates computers to university
The Chairman of Kwali Area Council of the FCT, Mr. Ibrahim Daniel, yesterday donated five sets of computers to Department of Sociology of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Nasarawa State University.
Ibrahim, represented by the vice chairman of the council, Alhaji Isah Garba Yewuti, said the gesture was to encourage computer knowledge among students of the institution.
He noted that as an academician that ventured into politics, he is still keen to contribute to the development of academic activities.
The chairman said he decided to donate the computer to the school because many indigenes of Kwali council are learning at the university.
He said the donation was part of the pledge he made to the Department of Sociology of the school when he was invited to attend an inaugural lecture by the institution, adding that the council will continue to lend its support to the faculty at all time in order to enhance its smooth academic activities.
Responding, the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University, Prof. Andrew Zamani, said there is a new revolution at the university.
He said the institution is now stretching its hands of fellowship to its immediate local communities even beyond the state.
He further informed the council chairman that the faculty has an e-library but there are no facilities to make it operational and thanked the authorities of the council for the donations, promising to ensure their optimal use.
