FCT en­gages corps mem­bers for emer­gency man­age­ment

The Federal Cap­i­tal Ter­ri­tory Emer­gency Man­age­ment Agency (FEMA) has en­gaged 149 youth corps mem­bers as vol­un­teers for emer­gency op­er­a­tions in Abuja.

Pub­lic Re­la­tions Of­fi­cer of the agency in the FCT Mrs Josie Mu­dasiru dis­closed this in a state­ment yes­ter­day.

She said the vol­un­teers were re­cently re­cruited at the Na­tional Youth Ser­vice ori­en­ta­tion camp in Kubwa, Abuja.

Mrs Mu­dasiru quoted to news the act­ing di­rec­tor, Re­lief And Re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion of the agency, Mrs Racheal Alikali, as say­ing that “vol­un­teer­ing is key to dis­as­ter man­age­ment and the role of youth corps mem­bers is vi­tal is in in­for­ma­tion dis­sem­i­na­tion, first aid, search and res­cue”

Alikali was also quoted as say­ing that the vol­un­teers would be trained to help them per­form their role ef­fec­tively.
