FCT engages corps members for emergency management
The Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has engaged 149 youth corps members as volunteers for emergency operations in Abuja.
Public Relations Officer of the agency in the FCT Mrs Josie Mudasiru disclosed this in a statement yesterday.
She said the volunteers were recently recruited at the National Youth Service orientation camp in Kubwa, Abuja.
Mrs Mudasiru quoted to news the acting director, Relief And Rehabilitation of the agency, Mrs Racheal Alikali, as saying that “volunteering is key to disaster management and the role of youth corps members is vital is in information dissemination, first aid, search and rescue”
Alikali was also quoted as saying that the volunteers would be trained to help them perform their role effectively.
