Kebbi to take over abandoned lands
Governor Saidu Dakingari of Kebbi State has warned that Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) issued on undeveloped plots will be revoked.
Dakingari, who said this at the weekend while on inspection tour of new government sites in Birnin Kebbi, added: “I will revoke the certificate of ownership from anybody who does not or refuses to develop his or her plot within the stipulated period provided by law”.
The governor also ordered the commissioner of lands and housing to allocate the new lay-out along Sani Abacha Bye-Pass.
The governor further directed the ministries to forward a proposal for the supply of necessary facilities such as access roads, electricity, schools and water in the area. He cautioned the ministry against sharp practices.
Responding, the Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Alhaji Hussainin Abdulahi Raha, thanked the governor for the approval and assured him that due process would be followed in the allocations.
