Kebbi to take over aban­doned lands

Gover­nor Saidu Dakingari of Kebbi State has warned that Cer­tifi­cate of Oc­cu­pancy (C of O) is­sued on un­de­vel­oped plots will be re­voked.

Dakingari, who said this at the weekend while on in­spec­tion tour of new govern­ment sites in Birnin Kebbi, added: “I will re­voke the cer­tifi­cate of own­er­ship from any­body who does not or re­fuses to de­velop his or her plot within the stip­u­lated pe­riod pro­vided by law”.

The gover­nor also or­dered the com­mis­sioner of lands and hous­ing to al­lo­cate the new lay-out along Sani Abacha Bye-Pass.

The gover­nor fur­ther di­rected the min­istries to for­ward a pro­posal for the sup­ply of nec­es­sary fa­cil­i­ties such as ac­cess roads, elec­tric­ity, schools and wa­ter in the area. He cau­tioned the min­istry against sharp prac­tices.

Re­spond­ing, the Com­mis­sioner for Lands and Hous­ing, Al­haji Hus­sainin Ab­du­lahi Raha, thanked the gover­nor for the ap­proval and as­sured him that due process would be fol­lowed in the al­lo­ca­tions.
