Eti­salat ad­vises stu­dents to em­brace ICT

Mo­bile telecommunication ser­vice provider, Eti­salat has ad­mon­ished Nige­rian stu­dents to em­brace the op­por­tu­ni­ties avail­able in In­for­ma­tion Com­mu­ni­ca­tion Tech­nol­ogy (ICT) which it said has be­come a trend in re­cent years.

Head, IT Strat­egy and Ar­chi­tec­ture, Eti­salat, Toye So­ladoye, made this known while ad­dress­ing some sec­ondary school stu­dents at a ca­reer coun­selling pro­gramme or­gan­ised by the com­pany in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the La­gos Em­pow­er­ment and Re­source Net­work (LEARN), an NGO founded by the La­gos First Lady, Mrs. Abim­bola Fashola in La­gos.

Ac­cord­ing to So­ladoye, it has be­come in­creas­ingly nec­es­sary for young people to start em­brac­ing ICT be­cause the world it­self has be­come a digi­tised world just as the in­tro­duc­tion of ICT has in­creased hu­man pro­duc­tiv­ity.

“There are many rea­sons why people across are em­brac­ing ICT and these in­clude the fact that we are liv­ing in a digi­tised world, its us­age brings about in­creased pro­duc­tiv­ity, im­proved qual­ity and ac­cu­racy, higher speed of ex­e­cu­tion, cus­tomer-fac­ing sys­tem, in­ter­nal en­ter­prise sys­tem, among other ad­van­tages,” So­ladoye said.

Ear­lier in his ad­dress, the com­pany Chief Ex­ec­u­tive Of­fi­cer who was rep­re­sented by the Di­rec­tor, Lead­er­ship and Or­gan­i­sa­tion De­vel­op­ment, HR, Rabi Isma said the ca­reer coun­sel­ing pro­gramme by their em­ploy­ees is ac­tu­ally geared to­wards cor­po­rate so­cial re­spon­si­bil­ity.
