Daily Trust - - CITY NEWS - By Abubakar Sadiq Isah

Barely three weeks after some suspected cattle rustlers invaded Kwaku community in Kuje Area Council and stole 55 cows, another set of rustlers again invaded the village on Thursday night and carted away 15 cows.

A witness, Yusuf Aliyu, said the incident happened at about 11: 48 pm, after residents of the community have retired to beds.

He said some suspected cattle rustlers with sophisticated weapons invaded the village and moved the cows away.

According to him, the rustlers stormed the village through bush path and moved straight to the house of the owner of the cows, asking him to surrender all his cows or be killed.

“The cattle rustlers asked the man to either surrender all his cattle to them or be killed at gun point, and the man took them to where the cows were kept and the rustlers moved them away,” he said.

He however said eight out of the 15 cows which are mostly female were later found inside a bush at a neighbouring Kanzo village on Friday afternoon by a farmer, who came to alert the village head of the community.

The village head of Kwaku community, Alhaji Abubakar Sarki Ishaku, could not be reached for comment over the incident but a close aid to the chief, confirmed the incident, saying incessant cases of cattle rustling is causing a nightmare to residents of the community.
