Ivanovic scrapes past Wozniacki to make Monterrey final
In a clash of the former World No. 1s, it was Ana Ivanovic that came out on top with a very tight 7-6(5) 6-4 win over Caroline Wozniacki.
The number two-seeded Ivanovic recovered from a break and 3-1 one down in the opening stanza to pull level and take control of the match - despite Wozniacki’s best effort’s to rattle her opponent - before sealing the set in a tie-break.
However, things didn’t go quite according to plan for Ivanovic in the second set as she appeared to lose her focus. The Serbian raced into a 4-0 lead, but was guilty of a number of errors as she let Wozniacki draw level at four games all.
She soon regained her composure, though, breaking her opponent to serve out the match in style.
