El-Kanemi FC thumb-up Kano fans
El-Kanemi Warriors Football Club of Maiduguri has expressed satisfaction over the warm reception and total support given to the Maiduguri-based side now playing in Kano as its home ground by Kano soccer fans.
The director media El-Kanemi Warriors Football Club of Maiduguri, Alhaji Tahiru Bala in a statement said the club was particularly appreciative of the support given the club during its home games against Abia Warriors and Akwa United.
“We are full of appreciation to the government and people of Kano State for giving us the desired support throughout our matches against Abia Warriors which we won by 2 - 0 and Akwa United which we drew 1-1”.
According to the director, the entire management of El-Kanemi Warriors opted for Kano as home acknowledging the fact that Maiduguri and Kano have long standing historical relationship, which dates back to over 100 years.
“Apart from the inter marriages between the people of the two states, our parents engaged in businesses of varying degrees.
“The tumultuous crowd that turns out to watch our match at the Kano Pillars Stadium was huge and very commendable the media director added. Bala expressed confidence on the entire Kano Football community that his team is missing nothing playing its matches in Kano, pointing out that anybody who is thinking of playing El-Kanemi in Kano as an advantage to his side is day dreaming because the Kano situation is perfect for us.
The only problem according to the director media is the cost of playing our home matches that has astronomically increased in Kano but thanks to our sport loving governor, Kashim Shettima for providing all the club requirements.
“It is a common knowledge that before discarding the sign on fees system in our premier league in Nigeria, Borno State governor was about the only governor that paid his players sign-on fees up to date without back log of payment in 2012 and 2013 seasons.” Bala recalled.
