The Arise Igala Leadership awards 2014 night was recently organized by the Arise Igala magazine in Abuja, and former Governor Abubakar Audu of Kogi State was honoured with the Igala Man of the Year award.

In his remark, the Attah Igala and chairman of the occasion, Idakwo Ameh Oboni, said the recognition should spur and encourage the recipients to be more committed to the cause of humanity.

The nomination for the award was conducted online and Prince Abubakar Audu, who was overwhelmingly voted for to emerge as Igala Man of the year, tasked all political office holders in the country to be honest and put in their best in the services to humanity, so that they would be remembered and appreciated by the people after leaving the office.

According to him, “you can’t work to please everybody but while at the helms of affairs in any God’s given opportunity, try as much as possible to put in your best for your people to enable your name be written in the sand of the time.’’

Audu, a leader of All Progressive Congress, APC, also charged the Ata Igala and President, Kogi State Council of Chiefs, His Royal Majesty, Michael Idakwo Ameh Oboni to work assiduously for unity of Igala people in particularly and the entire Kogi State.

He said, before the ascendancy of the paramount ruler to the throne, the Igala land was in total darkness, adding, “Your Majesty, since you assumed the position of the authority as the Attah Igala, we can now see the ray of light that the Igala Kingdom is working again.
