Kebbi school shut over fire outbreak

Daily Trust - - NEWS - From Garba Muhammad, Birnin Kebbi

The Kebbi State government has ordered the temporary closure of Government Girls Science Secondary School (GGSSS) Yauri, over fire outbreak. It was gathered that the school has experienced four fire outbreaks.

The state deputy governor, Ibrahim Aliyu, who spoke with Daily Trust yesterday said: “The school has been temporary closed down due to fire outbreaks. We have discovered that all the fire outbreaks occurred in the afternoon. They all occurred when there was power outage, so the issue of whether they were caused by electricity surge has been ruled out”.

He added: “A committee has been set up by the ministry of education to investigate the remote cause of fire. However, the SS3 students are still in school to write their WAEC examination. You see, though no life was lost, government has to take very drastic measures to unravel the cause of this mystery fire”.
