Ondo APC congress ends in chaos
Two persons were reported killed yesterday in Akure during an APC congress. One of the victims whose death was confirmed to newsmen yesterday evening identified as Bosun Adegorola was said to have received a gun shot in the head at Ward 2 following a minor argument with thugs.
State police spokesman, Oluwole Ogodo, who confirmed the death, said the case was reported to them after the victim was shot and rushed to the General Hospital where medical personnel battled fruitlessly to save his life. Although the identity of the other victim was yet to be revealed at press time, sources said he was one of those hit by stray bullets. Several other people, all members of the party who sustained injuries are receiving treatment at the General Hospital, the police spokesman said. He said three people are helping in the investigation. The APC ward congress was earlier slated for Saturday last week but was postponed due to the Ilaje Ese Odo Federal Constituency election fixed for same date by INEC. A faction of the APC in the state Monday announced its decision to pull out of the congress over what it termed ‘marginalisation’.
