Book launch fetches au­thor cash, lec­tur­ing job

Over N350,000 was re­alised from the launch­ing of a book writ­ten by Ah­mad Muham­mad Auwal, a 300-level stu­dent of Mass Com­mu­ni­ca­tion at the Nasarawa State Univer­sity, Keffi.

Speak­ing at the oc­ca­sion, the Vice Chan­cel­lor, NSUK Prof. Muham­mad Akaro Main­oma, com­mended the au­thor for writ­ing the book and as­sured him that upon grad­u­a­tion he will be em­ployed by the un­ver­sity.

He as­sured that the univer­sity will con­tinue to pro­vide the en­vi­ron­ment for its stu­dents to ex­cel and urged oth­ers to em­u­late the ex­em­plary acts of the au­thor.

In his ad­dress, Malam Muham­mad S. Rabiu, the Head of the Depart­ment dis­closed that the au­thor used the time he had dur­ing the last six-month strike by the Aca­demic Staff Union of Uni­ver­si­ties (ASUU) be­tween June and De­cem­ber 2013 to write the book.

He said af­ter Auwal had com­pleted it, he met him about writ­ing the fore­word for it and that he obliged.

“I am ex­tremely de­lighted by the hon­our done to me by all those who at­tended and par­tic­i­pated in the launch­ing. I thank ev­ery­body from the Emir of Keffi who is our chan­cel­lor to the act­ing vice-chan­cel­lor down to all the stu­dents that graced the oc­ca­sion,” Auwal said.

The book ti­tled News Writ­ing and Reporting is a 76-page, seven-chap­ter book that was pub­lished last Jan­uary.
