Kano Tar­gets 90% mass lit­er­acy by 2015

The Kano State govern­ment says it hopes to achieve 90 per­cent suc­cess in mass lit­er­acy next year. Gover­nor Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso said when he launched the sec­ond cir­cle of the mass lit­er­acy cam­paign pro­gram in Kano on Wed­nes­day that the state would re-awaken the zeal for mass lit­er­acy ac­tiv­i­ties, thereby rais­ing adult lit­er­acy rate from 74.1 per­cent in any lan­guage to 90 per­cent by 2015. He said to meet this govern­ment pur­chased 11 cars and 50 mo­tor­cy­cles at the cost of N16. 6 mil­lion to mon­i­tor lit­er­acy classes across the state.
