Zamfara spends N40m on security personnel monthly Dep. gov
The deputy governor of Zamfara State, Alhaji Ibrahim Wakkala Muhammad, said yesterday that over N40 million is expended monthly on logistics and payment of allowances to security personnel in the state.
Speaking at the Inspector General of Police peace and security committee meeting in Gusau, Wakkala said in the past two and half years, the present administration has purchased 150 patrol vehicles for the police, 30 for the army, ten for the Civil Defence Corps and Road Safety Corps and 18 for vigilante groups.
Wakkale, while lamenting the recent killings in the state, added that the state government also engaged the services of 16,000 private security personnel.
“Within the past one week, our state has been in the spotlight and unfortunately not for any reason than the recent senseless killings at Yar’galadima and Maitsaba and Birnin Tsaba villages in Maru and Zurmi Local Government Areas respectively,” he said.
