Zam­fara spends N40m on se­cu­rity per­son­nel monthly Dep. gov

The deputy gover­nor of Zam­fara State, Al­haji Ibrahim Wakkala Muham­mad, said yes­ter­day that over N40 mil­lion is ex­pended monthly on lo­gis­tics and pay­ment of al­lowances to se­cu­rity per­son­nel in the state.

Speak­ing at the In­spec­tor Gen­eral of Po­lice peace and se­cu­rity com­mit­tee meet­ing in Gusau, Wakkala said in the past two and half years, the present ad­min­is­tra­tion has pur­chased 150 pa­trol ve­hi­cles for the po­lice, 30 for the army, ten for the Civil De­fence Corps and Road Safety Corps and 18 for vig­i­lante groups.

Wakkale, while lament­ing the re­cent killings in the state, added that the state govern­ment also en­gaged the ser­vices of 16,000 pri­vate se­cu­rity per­son­nel.

“Within the past one week, our state has been in the spot­light and un­for­tu­nately not for any rea­son than the re­cent sense­less killings at Yar’gal­adima and Maitsaba and Birnin Ts­aba vil­lages in Maru and Zurmi Lo­cal Govern­ment Ar­eas re­spec­tively,” he said.
