Kaduna LG com­pen­sates herders af­ter clash

Sanga LGA of Kaduna State at the weekend com­pen­sated two herds­men who lost their cows and property in a clash with lo­cals at Anzere vil­lage with N1mil­lion each while an­other whose house was burnt got a hajj seat.

Chair­man of the LGA, Em­manuel Adamu Danzaria, said the coun­cil’s de­ci­sion was to pro­mote jus­tice and peace­ful co­ex­is­tence among the di­verse eth­nic groups in the area.

“Do not con­sider the ges­tures as pay­ment for all you’ve lost in the dis­tur­bances, but it is an as­sis­tance to en­able you pick-up your life,” he said.

The chair­man also said other vic­tims of the clash would be con­sid­ered for sim­i­lar as­sis­tance be­cause the coun­cil is poised to give all its cit­i­zens a sense of be­long­ing ir­re­spec­tive of tribe or re­li­gion.

Danzaria who said nor­malcy has since re­turned to the af­fected vil­lages, ap­pealed for sus­te­nance of peace and de­vel­op­ment of the area.

One of the re­cip­i­ents, Al­haji Arika Riga, said he lost his cows but never ex­pected the ges­ture.

“I never ex­pected this but the ges­ture has in no small way given hope to not only me but the en­tire Fu­lani people in South­ern Kaduna con­fi­dence on the need to live in peace. With the qual­ity of lead­er­ship we have in Sanga, we will re­main law abid­ing and re­spect all con­sti­tuted au­thor­i­ties,” Riga said.
