Kaduna LG compensates herders after clash
Sanga LGA of Kaduna State at the weekend compensated two herdsmen who lost their cows and property in a clash with locals at Anzere village with N1million each while another whose house was burnt got a hajj seat.
Chairman of the LGA, Emmanuel Adamu Danzaria, said the council’s decision was to promote justice and peaceful coexistence among the diverse ethnic groups in the area.
“Do not consider the gestures as payment for all you’ve lost in the disturbances, but it is an assistance to enable you pick-up your life,” he said.
The chairman also said other victims of the clash would be considered for similar assistance because the council is poised to give all its citizens a sense of belonging irrespective of tribe or religion.
Danzaria who said normalcy has since returned to the affected villages, appealed for sustenance of peace and development of the area.
One of the recipients, Alhaji Arika Riga, said he lost his cows but never expected the gesture.
“I never expected this but the gesture has in no small way given hope to not only me but the entire Fulani people in Southern Kaduna confidence on the need to live in peace. With the quality of leadership we have in Sanga, we will remain law abiding and respect all constituted authorities,” Riga said.
