The National Universities Commission (NUC) has given provisional approval to the newly established Jigawa State University in Kafin- Hausa to admit its pioneer students.

Prof. Abdullahi Ribadu, vice chancellor of the university, made this known when he paid a courtesy visit on the Emir of Gumel, Alhaji Ahmed Muhammed-Sani, on Friday.

Ribadu said NUC approved 15 degree courses for the new university, and that the necessary structures have been put in place for the commencement of the university this year.

He said he was in the emir’s palace to seek his support for the development of the university.

In his remarks, Muhammed-Sani enjoined youths to embrace university education because it was vital for their advancement in life.

The emir promised to support the university in its quest to train youths for the progress of the state. (NAN)
