3-year-old injured in Yangoji auto crash
A three-year-old child and three others were seriously injured in a motor accident which occurred on Saturday evening at Yangoji village, on the Abuja-Lokoja Highway.
A witness said the accident happened around 5:14 pm when the driver of a car with registration number GP 544 ABC lost control and crashed into a ditch.
He said the driver was trying to avoid a head-on collision with an oncoming vehicle, which overtook dangerously at a sharp corner, when he lost control and crashed into the ditch.
When contacted, Yangoji Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) Austine Chukwudi Okeke, confirmed the accident, saying a 3 year-old child and many others sustained injuries.
He attributed the accident to speed limit violation, saying the injured victims were taken to Kwali General Hospital for medical attention.
The unit commander further disclosed that five persons, comprising a female adult and four male adults, were also injured in another accident which occurred on Friday morning near Kwali, along the Abuja-Lokoja Highway.
According to him, the accident happened around 11: 23 am which involved a Toyota Sienna car with registration number ARC 675 XA and a Volkswagen Golf car with registration number BH 447 RSH.
He attributed the accident to over speeding and loss of control, saying the injured victims were taken to Kwali General Hospital for medication.
