3-year-old in­jured in Yan­goji auto crash

A three-year-old child and three oth­ers were se­ri­ously in­jured in a mo­tor ac­ci­dent which oc­curred on Satur­day evening at Yan­goji vil­lage, on the Abuja-Lokoja High­way.

A wit­ness said the ac­ci­dent hap­pened around 5:14 pm when the driver of a car with reg­is­tra­tion num­ber GP 544 ABC lost con­trol and crashed into a ditch.

He said the driver was try­ing to avoid a head-on col­li­sion with an on­com­ing ve­hi­cle, which over­took dan­ger­ously at a sharp cor­ner, when he lost con­trol and crashed into the ditch.

When con­tacted, Yan­goji Unit Com­man­der of the Federal Road Safety Com­mis­sion (FRSC) Aus­tine Chuk­wudi Okeke, con­firmed the ac­ci­dent, say­ing a 3 year-old child and many oth­ers sus­tained in­juries.

He at­trib­uted the ac­ci­dent to speed limit vi­o­la­tion, say­ing the in­jured vic­tims were taken to Kwali Gen­eral Hospi­tal for med­i­cal at­ten­tion.

The unit com­man­der fur­ther dis­closed that five per­sons, com­pris­ing a fe­male adult and four male adults, were also in­jured in an­other ac­ci­dent which oc­curred on Fri­day morn­ing near Kwali, along the Abuja-Lokoja High­way.

Ac­cord­ing to him, the ac­ci­dent hap­pened around 11: 23 am which in­volved a Toy­ota Si­enna car with reg­is­tra­tion num­ber ARC 675 XA and a Volk­swa­gen Golf car with reg­is­tra­tion num­ber BH 447 RSH.

He at­trib­uted the ac­ci­dent to over speed­ing and loss of con­trol, say­ing the in­jured vic­tims were taken to Kwali Gen­eral Hospi­tal for med­i­ca­tion.
