NDE, se­na­tor com­mis­sion skill ac­qui­si­tion cen­tre in Kebbi

Se­na­tor Muham­madu Magoro, rep­re­sent­ing Kebbi South se­na­to­rial zone, has com­mis­sioned sec­ond phase of the Skill Ac­qui­si­tion in Zuru, Kebbi State.

In his ad­dress at the com­mis­sion­ing cer­e­mony in Zuru, Magoro said the cen­tre in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the Na­tional Direc­torate of Em­ploy­ment (NDE) will pro­vide train­ing for youths in var­i­ous trades such as elec­tri­cal in­stal­la­tion, GSM re­pairs, cater­ing, weld­ing, plumb­ing, fash­ion de­sign, com­puter oper­a­tion and hair dress­ing sa­loon.

“The cen­tre is in col­lab­o­ra­tion with NDE and is ex­pected to take off oper­a­tion next month with 200 ben­e­fi­cia­ries. We have also pro­vided a 50 ca­pac­ity In­for­ma­tion Com­mu­ni­ca­tion Tech­nol­ogy (ICT) train­ing cen­tre in Zuru.

“The ben­e­fi­cia­ries are ex­pected to learn com­puter ap­pre­ci­a­tion and other ap­pli­ca­tion as well as ac­quire ba­sic knowl­edge of com­puter main­te­nance,” he added.

He said 35 tri­cy­cles and 22 mo­tor­cy­cles were also dis­trib­uted to un­em­ployed youths in Yauri and Zuru Emi­rates of Kebbi South Se­na­to­rial zone.

The se­na­tor said the pro­gramme is aimed at pro­vid­ing em­ploy­ment to the teem­ing un­em­ployed youths and to ease the trans­port suf­fer­ings in the area.

The Emir of Zuru, re­tired Ma­jor Gen­eral Muham­madu Sani Sami com­mended the ef­fort of the se­na­tor and called on the ben­e­fi­cia­ries to make ju­di­cious use of the pro­gramme.
