On the killing of Fulani in Nasarawa

Daily Trust - - BUSINESS - President Goodluck Jonathan

Dear Idris, your write-up is biased, lopsided and sentimental. If Bola Ige referred to them as the Tutsis of Nigeria, I believe it’s simply because they are minority in such places where they want to impose their desires, such as using peasants’ crops as pasture for their cattle. Most recently, the Fulanis have sacked communities where they are no longer welcomed and I am sure you have read about that. The atrocities they have committed in diverse places in this country are still very fresh in our minds. You call on all to raise their voice against the government for the lives of the poor nomads killed in cold blood, but did you do the same for Beroms, the Tivs etc. Note, however, that I am not in support of the killing neither am I in support of any killing, be it for justice, vengeance or whatsoever. Be open-minded when you write; do not only speak when it hurts you, speak when it hurts others so that it can be quelled before it gets to you.
