The two Glo Nigeria Premier League matches played yesterday in Kano produced victories for the host teams as El-Kanemi Warriors defeated Lobi Stars 2-0, while defending champions Kano Pillars overwhelmed 10-man FC Taraba 3-1.

El-Kanemi forward Obioma Arinze opened scoring for his side in the 38th minute after a defensive mix-up saw his low shot beat Terkaa Melai in goal for Lobi.

The visitors attempted to respond immediately but their major undoing was poor finishing.

Former Lobi Stars midfielder Emmanuel Ajia sealed victory for his side with a superbly curled shot in the 56th minute of the match.

Lobi had several chances to at least reduce the tally but poor finishing by Barnabas Imenger and Mohammed Sani denied them.

Speaking after the match, El-Kanemi Technical Adviser Salisu Yusuf expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the match.

He praised the performance of both sides as he said considering the harsh weather conditions, the players couldn’t have done more than they did.

The second match of the evening was full of drama as the FC Taraba goalkeeper Richard Ocheayi was sent off early in the first half to reduce his side to 10 men.

Pillars’ pacy striker Ezekiel Mba scored the first goal for his side in the 25th minute but the goal was vehemently protested by the visitors.

It was in the process that Ocheayi was issued the first yellow card which was followed with another two minutes later resulting into his sending off.

Gambo Mohammed made it two for the defending champions, while Taraba reduced the tally after Pillars defender Umar Zango scored an own goal.

However, pillars continued to mount pressure which yielded dividends when midfielder Eneji Otekpa fired a thunderbolt that hit the cross bar before bouncing into the net for the third goal.
