Jegede: Law school opens condolence register in campuses

-

The Nigerian Law School has opened condolence registers in all its campuses for its former Director General (DG), Chief John Kayode Jegede (SAN).

Jegede, who died last Wednesday, was the fifth head of the school and ran the institution as its first Director General for nine years and retired in September 2004.

President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Okey Wali SAN in his condolence message said that Mr. Jegede was a very good man, gentle, humble, soft spoken and very unassuming. He taught Law of Evidence at the Nigerian Law School as a lecturer/secretary of the Council of Legal Education.

“I also had the privilege of working closely with him as a representative of the NBA during his tenure as the DG of the NLS. He was a quintessential administrator and the history of the Nigerian Law School and indeed the legal profession in Nigeria can never be complete without the name of Mr. Kayode Jegede, SAN,” he said.

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Malam Yusuf Ali, said Jegede was the Secretary of the Law School when he was a student there.

“He became a SAN when he left the school and was a gentleman par excellence. He was someone we all respected. He carried himself well. Nigeria will miss him greatly because he served the country well,” Ali said.
