Trailer crushes woman on Apapa-Oshodi expressway

Daily Trust - - NEWS - From Femi Akinola, Lagos

An unidentified woman was yesterday crushed to death when she attempted to cross the busy Oshodi -Apapa expressway at Toyota bus stop in front of PZ Nigeria office close to the The Guardian newspapers in Lagos.

Witnesses said the woman, like other people, had crossed the service lane but was too slow on the main highway as an on-coming fast moving trailer ran over her, killing her instantly. A sympathiser, Mrs. Riskat Ayinla, blamed the woman’s death on government’s failure to provide a pedestrian bridge at the Toyota bus stop. Our reporter observed that the woman, who might be between 50 and 55 years, had her skull crushed beyond recognition. She wore flat shoes and what appeared to be a brown gown.

Sympathisers and curious onlookers as usual, gathered at the scene to catch a glimpse of the woman’s corpse which was lying on the road at the time of filing this report.
