Northern govs’ wives flay blast, schoolgirls abduction

Daily Trust - - NEWS - From Hope Abah, Makurdi

The Northern Governor’s Wives Forum yesterday condemned Monday’s Nyanya motor park bombing in Abuja which claimed many lives and Tuesday’s abduction of secondary school girls in Chibok village in Borno State.

A communiqué issued at the end of an emergency meeting of the forum chaired by the wife of Benue State governor, Mrs. Dooshima Suswam, in Makurdi yesterday lamented the continued insecurity in the country.

It urged security agencies not to relax but to ensure that the abducted girls are rescued unhurt, urging Nigerians to desist from politicizing the issue but offer solutions that would tackle problems facing the nation.

The forum stressed the need for the Nigerian Immigration Service to step up efforts to check the influx of foreigners and goods into the country as a way of stemming the tide. The forum which commiserated with families of victims and prayed for the quick recovery of those injured in the blast, enjoined politicians to give more attention to youth empowerment so that they would not be lured into being used as tools for violence and other social vices.
