Kwara to demolish buildings along waterways
Buildings close to waterways in Kwara State are to be pulled down as part of measures to check flood.
The move came after four people including two children died in the flood which followed last Wednesday’s rainfall.
After the disaster, Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed constituted a seven-member task force on flood control and restoration of the Ilorin master plan headed by the Commissioner for Works and Transport, Dr. Amuda Kannike.
Other members are the Commissioner for Environment and Forestry Alhaji Abubakar Mora, Commissioner for Information and Communications Prince Tunji Moronfoye, and the Special Adviser on Emergency and Relief Services Mallam AbdulAzeez Ibrahim among others.
