Kwara to de­mol­ish build­ings along wa­ter­ways

Build­ings close to wa­ter­ways in Kwara State are to be pulled down as part of mea­sures to check flood.

The move came af­ter four people in­clud­ing two chil­dren died in the flood which fol­lowed last Wed­nes­day’s rain­fall.

Af­ter the dis­as­ter, Gover­nor Ab­dul­fa­tah Ahmed con­sti­tuted a seven-mem­ber task force on flood con­trol and restora­tion of the Ilorin mas­ter plan headed by the Com­mis­sioner for Works and Trans­port, Dr. Amuda Kan­nike.

Other mem­bers are the Com­mis­sioner for En­vi­ron­ment and Forestry Al­haji Abubakar Mora, Com­mis­sioner for In­for­ma­tion and Com­mu­ni­ca­tions Prince Tunji Moron­foye, and the Spe­cial Ad­viser on Emer­gency and Re­lief Ser­vices Mal­lam Ab­du­lAzeez Ibrahim among oth­ers.
