Gov’s ex-aide arraigned over N8.8m fraud
Former Special Adviser to Kwara State Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed on Local Government Affairs, John Okadare, was yesterday arraigned before an Ilorin Magistrate’s Court for allegedly collecting N8. 8 million from people under the pretext of registering them for hajj.
The prosecutor, Insp. Godwin Azua, told the court that he collected the money from intending pilgrims in April 2013 and converted it to his personal use and all efforts to retrieve it proved abortive. The prosecutor objected to the bail application. Magistrate Mariam Lawal however granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case to May 5.
