FG to privatise castor seed processing plant

Daily Trust - - INDUSTRY - From Zakariyya Adaramola

The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), an agency under Ministry of Science and Technology, said it would put its castor seed processing plant in Kaduna for sale to boost the seed’s production in the country.

Disclosing this in Abuja during a one-day national stakeholders’ meeting on the development of castor processing in Nigeria, the Director General of RMRDC Dr Hussaini Doko Ibrahim said the council was divesting from the plant to give entrepreneurs the chance to utilise it for industrialisation. Ibrahim said under utilisation of the plant and others like it across the country was partly responsible for the high prevalence of unemployment and low standard of living in the country. A systematic development, through effective public-private partnership, will ensure sustainable development of natural resources, according to the RMRDC boss.
