Gashua var­sity com­mences re­me­dial pro­gramme

The Federal Univer­sity Gashua, Yobe State, has com­menced re­me­dial pro­gramme to pro­vide op­por­tu­nity for can­di­dates who are de­sirous of gain­ing ad­mis­sion but did not make some of their O’ Level pa­pers, to be ab­sorbed into de­gree award­ing cour­ses of­fered by the univer­sity.

The univer­sity’s Reg­is­trar Al­haji Sule Dauda, in a state­ment said the ob­jec­tives of the pro­gram in­clude; to pre­pare can­di­dates to rem­edy their O’ Level de­fi­cien­cies in WAEC, NECO or NABTEB ex­am­i­na­tions and to pre­pare them to pass the UTME ex­am­i­na­tion as well as pass the univer­sity’s in­ter­nal ex­am­i­na­tion to qual­ify them for ad­mis­sion into 100 level.

Ac­cord­ing to him, those who suc­cess­fully un­dergo the re­me­dial pro­gramme and ob­tain at least five cred­its in­clud­ing Math­e­mat­ics and English Lan­guage will au­to­mat­i­cally be ad­mit­ted into the univer­sity.

Can­di­dates for ad­mis­sion into the pro­gramme must have at least three cred­its and two passes in Math­e­mat­ics, Bi­ol­ogy, Chem­istry, Physics, English in WAEC, NECO or NABTEB in not more than two sit­tings.

Those with more than three cred­its but de­fi­cient in their sub­jects’ com­bi­na­tions or Math­e­mat­ics and English can seize the op­por­tu­nity to rem­edy their short­com­ings.
