The Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council, Micah Y. Jiba, has expressed shock over the Nyanya bomb blast, which claimed scores of lives on Monday, saying he was pained.

Death tolls in the blast, which happened in Nyanya, an Abuja surburb, has reached 77 with some people yet to ascertain the whereabouts of their relatives believed to have been caught in the bomb blast.

Jiba described the incident as unfortunate, saying such events ought not to be happening in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

He said: “We are not happy with what we are seeing in the FCT and we sympathise with the families of the affected persons.”

Jiba, who made this known when he visited the injured victims including immunisation facilitators in various government and private hospitals in the area council, commended health workers for their efforts in caring for the injured.

He, however, appealed to the FCT Administration to ensure the completion of the Aso-Gitata road in order to decongest the traffic.
