Eleg­bel­eye ex­tols Chuk­wumer­ije for gold win at in­ter­na­tional taek­wondo cham­pi­onship

The Di­rec­tor Gen­eral, Nigeria Sports Com­mis­sion, Gbenga Eleg­bel­eye has ap­plauded Perez Uche Chuk­wumer­ije for mak­ing Nigeria proud by win­ning gold medal at the Bel­gium Open In­ter­na­tional Taek­wondo Cham­pi­onship, a class ‘A’ tour­na­ment held in Bel­gium.

Eleg­bel­eye ex­pressed ful­fill­ment at the achieve­ment yes­ter­day in Abuja when the Nigeria Taek­wondo Fed­er­a­tion (NTF) led by its Pres­i­dent, Ge­orge Ashiru vis­ited his of­fice to present the gold medal won by the ath­lete. To him

Elated that the gold medal will likely place the ath­lete among the top 30 in the next In­ter­na­tional Taek­wondo rank­ings, Eleg­bel­eye said “to have our ath­letes amongst the top in world rank­ing is laud­able and bril­liant”.

He chal­lenged the as­so­ci­a­tion to win more lau­rels to en­cour­age Nige­ri­ans to cel­e­brate them.

The Di­rec­tor Gen­eral also com­mended the govern­ment and people of Korea for their sup­port in en­cour­ag­ing sports de­vel­op­ment in Nigeria, par­tic­u­larly taek­wondo.

Eleg­bel­eye par­tic­u­larly ap­pre­ci­ated the Korean govern­ment for pro­vid­ing the NTF with a coach at a min­i­mal cost.

In hi re­mark, NTF Pres­i­dent Ge­orge Ashiru noted that the achieve­ment will fur­ther pave way for Nigeria to be in the next Olympic Games.
