Nigeria to host 3rd Nes­tle-spon­sored U-13 soc­cer tour­ney

Nigeria, the maiden cham­pi­ons of the an­nual Nes­tle-spon­sored U-13 African Soc­cer cham­pi­onship in 2010 in South Africa, will host the third edi­tion of the com­pe­ti­tion, ac­cord­ing to an of­fi­cial.

The Chief Ex­ec­u­tive Of­fi­cer of Nes­tle Nigeria Plc, Mr. Dhar­nesh Gord­hon, dis­closed this on Wed­nes­day at a news con­fer­ence in La­gos to herald the kick-off of the com­pe­ti­tion.

Gord­hon said that the three-day com­pe­ti­tion, sched­uled to be­gin in La­gos on May 29, would end on May 31.

Ac­cord­ing to Gord­hon, the cham­pi­onship which be­gan in South Africa in 2010 is a PanAfrican com­pe­ti­tion or­gan­ised for school chil­dren un­der the age of 13.

“The three-day tour­na­ment which kicks off on May 29, will see the de­fend­ing cham­pi­ons Ghana, Kenya rep­re­sent­ing East Africa and South Africa de­fend­ing South­ern African pride.

“This year’s edi­tion is the first time Nigeria will be host­ing and we are proud to put this to­gether,” he said.
