Nigeria to host 3rd Nestle-sponsored U-13 soccer tourney
Nigeria, the maiden champions of the annual Nestle-sponsored U-13 African Soccer championship in 2010 in South Africa, will host the third edition of the competition, according to an official.
The Chief Executive Officer of Nestle Nigeria Plc, Mr. Dharnesh Gordhon, disclosed this on Wednesday at a news conference in Lagos to herald the kick-off of the competition.
Gordhon said that the three-day competition, scheduled to begin in Lagos on May 29, would end on May 31.
According to Gordhon, the championship which began in South Africa in 2010 is a PanAfrican competition organised for school children under the age of 13.
“The three-day tournament which kicks off on May 29, will see the defending champions Ghana, Kenya representing East Africa and South Africa defending Southern African pride.
“This year’s edition is the first time Nigeria will be hosting and we are proud to put this together,” he said.
