Obiano calls for sacrifice

Daily Trust - - NEWS - From Beatrice Onuchukwu, Awka

As Christians all over the world celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ at Easter, Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State, has observed that no society can experience real progress without sacrifice.

In his Easter message, Obiano said Easter amplifies the significance of sacrifice to human progress.

“No time is humanity more vividly reminded of the significance of sacrifice to human progress and advancement than the Easter period. Every Easter, the entire Christendom is forced to recall that our salvation is a product of priceless sacrifice. Therefore, our struggle to rescue our cities and communities from the vicious grip of criminals demands a measure of sacrifice from everyone,” he said.

Chief Obiano urged people of the state to use this period to reflect on their relationships with neighbours.

“While we join our loved ones and friends to celebrate Easter, we must remember to be vigilant. Experience has shown that the enemies of our happiness have always seized on the laxity of people during festive periods to wreak havoc on the innocent. We cannot afford to concede to these enemies of the state,” he added.
