FRSC worries over rising alcoholism among commercial drivers
The Awka Sector Command of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has expressed worry over rising cases of alcoholism among commercial bus drivers.
Deputy Sector Commander and Head of Operations, Mr Adewunmi Malomo yesterday in Awka said the trend had become worrisome to the corps.
Malomo, who led a team of the corps personnel on safety campaign to the Living Faith Church (LFC) Amawbia, said the drivers usually claimed they “only took roots’’.
He, however, pointed out that the roots were usually soaked in local gin which they claimed had cure for so many ailments.
“Drinking roots before driving is alcoholism, because it is usually soaked in the local gin (ogogoro) to bring out its contents before drinking,” he said. (NAN)
