Maku urges unity against insurgents
Information Minister Labaran Maku has called on both Christians and Muslims to be united to defeat the Boko Haram insurgents whose plan was to divide and set the people against each other.
The minister made the call yesterday at the St. Patrick Catholic Church, Akwanga at a Church Service to commemorate the Easter celebrations, a statement issued by his spokesman Joseph Mutah said.
Maku observed that the pattern of killings by the insurgents suggest they were out to cause confusion and cast the government in bad light.
“The reason for the killings is satanic, it is to cause confusion in the country, and to make the people hate the government and fight among ourselves”, he stated.
The minister assured that government is doing everything possible to check the activities of terrorists in the country including deploying new technologies, and urged the public to support security agencies by remaining vigilant and reporting suspicious movement and characters to the appropriate authorities.
