Police beef up security in Kogi

The Kogi State Police Command has beefed up security in Lokoja and other parts of the state.

Our correspond­ent who went round Lokoja metropolis observed security presence at strategic locations.

Daily Trust further observed that the police mounted a stop and search point along Ayingba road, where vehicles moving through the state to the northern part of the country from the South-east region are thoroughly searched.

Also, presence of security personnel was heavy on the Okene-Lokoja-Abuja expressway with military check points at strategic locations.

A police officer who spoke on condition of anonymity said the stop and search was necessary in view of security challenges confrontin­g the nation and also to ensure a hitch free Easter celebratio­n.

Residents who spoke on the developmen­t commended police for the security measure, saying it would help to checkmate armed robbery and other security challenges.
