Govt, opposition playing politics with terrorism -Shehu Sani
President of the Civil Rights Congress of Nigeria (CRC), Shehu Sani, said yesterday that the government of Nigeria and the opposition are playing politics with terrorism.
Sani, who spoke with Daily Trust in Kaduna, noted that every incident is followed by “idle condemnation, politics of blame game and nothingness”.
He lamented that after every bomb blast, government finds excuses while the opposition finds a “capital politicizing response” to the insurgency.
According to him, the unceasing violence is the most challenging threat to Nigeria’s freedom, democracy and corporate existence.
“Politicians are is in the soulless game of splashing each other the spilled blood of the innocent victims of the raging violence. It is most unfortunate and regrettable that the federal government and the political elite have not found the wisdom to stand up to this national emergency, but rather choose to play politics,” he said.
He added: “The allegations that the federal government or the ruling PDP is behind the insurgents and insurgency is a political offensive by the opposition, but it’s out rightly false. The allegation that the opposition leaders and the APC support insurgency is also a political offensive, but it is a malicious and untrue shifting of blame”.
