Com­mit­tee sum­mons NIMASA, Cus­toms, oth­ers

The Com­mit­tee on Na­tional Se­cu­rity yes­ter­day de­cided to sum­mon some se­cu­rity and para-mil­i­tary agencies to ap­pear be­fore it for re­fus­ing to sub­mit mem­o­randa.

The heads of the three sub-com­mit­tees on se­cu­rity Wed­nes­day de­lib­er­ated on the mem­o­randa re­ceived from the pub­lic and other work­ing pa­pers.

But due to the lack of any pre­sen­ta­tion from cer­tain govern­ment agencies couldn’t con­tinue its work and there­fore re­quested the con­fer­ence sec­re­tariat to in­vite the agencies to ei­ther at­tend their meet­ings or sub­mit memos to en­able the com­mit­tee carry out their work ef­fec­tively.

The agencies to be in­vited are: The Nigeria Po­lice Force (NPF), Federal Road Safety Com­mis­sion (FRSC), Nigeria Cus­toms Ser­vice (NCS), Nigeria Pris­ons Ser­vice (NPS), Nigeria Se­cu­rity and Civil De­fence Corps (NSCDC), Na­tional Drug Law En­force­ment Agency (NDLEA), Na­tional Emer­gency Man­age­ment Agency (NEMA), De­fence In­tel­li­gence Agency (DIA), Na­tional In­tel­li­gence Agency (NIA) and the Nige­rian Mar­itime Ad­min­is­tra­tion and Safety Agency (NIMASA).
