Prof. Njokanma is new LASU Deputy Vice Chan­cel­lor Ad­min­is­tra­tion

Prof Fidelis Njokanma has been elected as the new Deputy Vice Chan­cel­lor (Ad­min­is­tra­tion) of the La­gos State Univer­sity by the Se­nate.

A state­ment Wed­nes­day by Kay­ode Sut­ton, the Pub­lic Re­la­tions Of­fi­cer of the in­sti­tu­tion, said Pro­fes­sor Njokanma on Tues­day polled 33 votes while his co-con­tes­tant, Prof Olatunji Abanikanda of the Fac­ulty of Sci­ence, scored 30 votes.

He said that of the 139 mem­bers of the Se­nate, 83 signed the at­ten­dance reg­is­ter, while 77 mem­bers took part in the elec­tion.

Njokanma was for­merly the Dean, Fac­ulty of Clin­i­cal Ser­vices and also a for­mer Deputy Provost, La­gos State Univer­sity Col­lege of Medicine from 2012 to Fe­bru­ary 2014.

Be­fore this, he also headed the Depart­ment of Pe­di­atrics, La­gos State Univer­sity Col­lege of Medicine (LASUCOM), and a two-term deputy provost, LASUCOM, Ikeja be­tween 20082010 and 2010-2012 re­spec­tively.

Fol­low­ing a va­cancy in the post of the DVC on De­cem­ber 8, 2013, the man­age­ment called for ap­pli­ca­tions from in­ter­ested pro­fes­sors and Heads of Aca­demic Unit on April 7.

The date for the in­au­gu­ra­tion will be de­ter­mined by the school Se­nate.
