Prof. Njokanma is new LASU Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration
Prof Fidelis Njokanma has been elected as the new Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) of the Lagos State University by the Senate.
A statement Wednesday by Kayode Sutton, the Public Relations Officer of the institution, said Professor Njokanma on Tuesday polled 33 votes while his co-contestant, Prof Olatunji Abanikanda of the Faculty of Science, scored 30 votes.
He said that of the 139 members of the Senate, 83 signed the attendance register, while 77 members took part in the election.
Njokanma was formerly the Dean, Faculty of Clinical Services and also a former Deputy Provost, Lagos State University College of Medicine from 2012 to February 2014.
Before this, he also headed the Department of Pediatrics, Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM), and a two-term deputy provost, LASUCOM, Ikeja between 20082010 and 2010-2012 respectively.
Following a vacancy in the post of the DVC on December 8, 2013, the management called for applications from interested professors and Heads of Academic Unit on April 7.
The date for the inauguration will be determined by the school Senate.
