Ex-Ekiti gov Oni set to leave PDP for APC

Daily Trust - - NEWS - From Doyin Adebusuyi, Ado Ekiti

Former Ekiti State governor, Segun Oni, is set to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC), a Commissioner for Information under the former governor, Chief Taiwo Olatubosin, told journalists in Ado Ekiti yesterday.

If Oni defects, it would be a major setback for the PDP as the party prepares for the governorship election on June 21. Olatubosun, who disclosed this on telephone, said Oni’s decision to join the APC was based on an urgent need to save the state from those he called “a band of locusts who once plagued it (Ekiti) and rendered hopes desolate”.

According to Olatunbosun, all arrangements have been concluded for the move which he maintained is in the overall interest of Ekiti people.
