Gunmen kill LG cashier, set house, car ablaze
Unidentified gunmen early Saturday raided the house of the cashier of Rabah LGA of Sokoto State, Lawal Aliyu, killing him and setting his house and car ablaze.
The gunmen whose motive is yet unknown were said to have asked for the cashier who went into hiding when they stormed the house. The gunmen threatened to slaughter his child if he failed to come out, and went on to snatch the child from his mother. The cashier then emerged from hiding and the gunmen promptly shot him dead and injured two other people who came out to rescue him. The two are receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
Police spokesman, DSP Almustapha Sani, said the cashier was shot and not slaughtered. He said the councillor representing Gandi constituency reported the incident to the Rabah divisional headquarters. He added that investigation had commenced to unravel the motive and apprehend the killers.
