Construction and mining company Sandvik celebrated the World Malaria Day with a visitation and donations to expectant and breast feeding mothers in Abuja.

The company in partnership with Pact Nigeria made donations of 150 treated long lasting mosquito nets and mama pack to women in Byazhin, Kubwa, Abuja.

Addressing the beneficiaries at the Byazhin Primary Health Center, Managing Director of Sandvik Mr Marshal John said the good health of a nation is predicated on the good health of mothers because they take of the home front.

“When malaria haunts the mother, the nation is haunted,” he said.

He urged mothers to clean up their environments and use the insecticide treated mosquito nets as required when going to bed to help reduce the spread of malaria which he lamented remain a killer disease in sub-saharan Africa.
