‘Senate not in haste to pass petroleum bill’

Daily Trust - - NEWS - By Turaki A. Hassan

As the Senate resumes plenary tomorrow, the upper chamber has said it is not in a hurry to pass the long-awaited and controversial Petroleum Industry Bill popularly known as (PIB) because of the technical nature of the proposed legislation.

Speaking to Daily Trust yesterday, Senate Leader Victor Ndoma-Egba SAN said the petroleum sector reform bill was one that is quite technical and as such demands that more time be given to it before it is passed.

Ndoma-Egba (PDP, Cross Rivers) pleaded with Nigerians to be patient with the work of the parliament because it is not a “factory’ where finished goods are given time during which they must be produced.
