In defence of Nyako

Daily Trust - - VIEWS -

Nyako has spoken not only his mind but that of northern Nigerians. Only the gullible can agree with the so-called FG’s fight against insurgency. The government at the centre should provide answer(s) to those allegations raised by Obasanjo and Nyako.

sqmilan@ya ************************ The suspicion that government is behind these crises is in every northerner’s mind, from peasants to Emirs including people in the security circle. Therefore, the Lamido and Nyako’s actions simply represent the feelings of average northerners hence we are solidly behind them. A lot of unanswered, nay, unanswerable questions about the crises gave rise to these suspicions; many of which appeared in this main write-up.

masudharuna@ya ************************ The umbrage and hot air apart, Nyako hit the nail on the head. The reckless and ruthless killings of Mohammed Yusuf, Foi and countless Nigerians by the police precipitated this crisis. The root of it all is power and the lucre that accrues to whoever wields that power through the instruments of office. The solution is open, free and fair election that count only the votes casts and declare the result openly so that the people are represented by elected representatives and not ethnic/INEC/Court-declared winners.
