Crash saves kid­napped poly rec­tor from gun­men

The Rec­tor of the Federal Polytech­nic Idah, Mathew AK­pata, who was kid­napped at his res­i­dence by some gun­men re­gained free­dom when the kid­nap­pers’ car crashed into a tree while whisk­ing him away.

Our re­porter gath­ered that the kid­napers stormed his res­i­dence at Idah in Idah LGA of Kogi State at about 8pm Mon­day and af­ter seiz­ing him, tied his hands and legs and dumped him in the booth of their car and sped off.

The driver how­ever lost con­trol of the ve­hi­cle in the at­tempt to rush away and it rammed into a tree and the gun­men sus­tained se­ri­ous in­juries. Wit­nesses said in spite of their in­juries they man­aged to es­cape but left the rec­tor in the booth of the car. Vil­lagers who rushed to the scene dis­cov­ered the rec­tor in the booth. He said the vil­lagers un­tied him and took him to a hospi­tal from where he has been dis­charged af­ter treat­ment.
