Sokoto to train 349 in­di­genes abroad

The Sokoto State govern­ment has con­cluded plans to spon­sor 349 in­di­genes of the state abroad for stud­ies in sci­ence re­lated cour­ses.

The coun­tries in­clude Bangladesh, In­dia and Ugan­dan and the stu­dent would enrol for un­der­grad­u­ate and post­grad­u­ate stud­ies, Daily Trust gath­ered.

Ex­ec­u­tive Chair­man of the state Schol­ar­ship Board, Ab­dulka­dir Je­lani Kalgo, said al­ready Gover­nor Aliyu Wa­makko has ap­proved N656.7 mil­lion for the project.

Kalgo said the amount would take care of tu­ition, reg­is­tra­tion, ac­com­mo­da­tion, trans­porta­tion and liv­ing cost of the stu­dents for the 2014/2015 aca­demic ses­sion.

He said the in­sti­tu­tions that the stu­dents would be sent to in­clude; Ra­jiv Ghandi Univer­sity of Health Sci­ences, Ban­ga­lore in In­dia, In­ter­na­tional Is­lamic Univer­sity in Bangladesh and the Is­lamic Univer­sity, Uganda.
